Government Relations

Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) is proud to foster strong government relations to support the sustainability and growth of the beef industry.

By uniting producers, industry stakeholders, and policymakers, ABP creates a platform for meaningful dialogue and collaboration. This approach not only strengthens the industry’s voice but also ensures that the concerns and needs of beef producers are effectively communicated to government officials.

Alberta Beef Industry Stampede Summit

In 2022, ABP hosted the first Alberta Beef Industry Stampede Summit with partners Alberta Cattle Feeders’ Association, Canadian Cattle Association, and Western Stock Growers’ Association. The event brought together beef producers, industry stakeholders, and politicians from various levels of government to celebrate the Alberta beef industry and foster valuable connections.

Expanding every year since then, Stampede Summit has become the go-to event for politicians hoping to connect with the cattle industry. Our partner list has also expanded to now include Alberta Auction Markets Association, Alberta Grazing Leaseholders Association, Alberta Veterinary Medical Association, and Feeder Associations of Alberta.

One of the many highlights of Stampede Summit is the announcement of the Environmental Stewardship Award, accompanied by the first viewing of a special video showcasing the award recipients.

We are excited to continue this tradition and celebrate the achievements and contributions of our industry.

ABP’s Policy Manual

ABP’s Policy Manual is a comprehensive document that outlines the principles and guidelines governing the commission’s operations and advocacy efforts. It serves as a foundational resource for understanding ABP’s stances on various issues affecting the beef industry.

The policy manual guides ABP’s advocacy work by providing a clear framework for addressing industry challenges and opportunities. It helps ABP to effectively represent the interests of cattle producers in discussions with government bodies, industry partners, and the public. By adhering to the policies outlined in the manual, ABP can consistently advocate for sustainable practices, fair regulations, and the overall advancement of Alberta’s beef industry.
