Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) is excited to continue the Young Creators Contest for a second year – open to youth of all ages from pre-school to young adult.
This is your chance to showcase your creativity, passion, and knowledge of the beef industry! With tailored challenges and amazing prizes, this contest is designed to inspire and engage the next generation of beef industry leaders.
Important Details:
- Submission Deadline: Saturday, January 10, 2026, 11:59 p.m.
- Announcement Date: Winners will be notified by February 10, 2026.

Categories:
Pre-School (Ages 1-5) and Kindergarten
- Assignment: Create a masterpiece using crayons, markers, or paints—whatever you love! All we ask is that there’s at least one cow in your picture.
- Prizes: Three winners will be awarded a prize pack with ABP swag and other fun items!
- Selection: Winners will be chosen through a random drawn.
Grade 1 to Grade 4
- Assignment: Draw an original picture (colour or black and white) showing cattle and what they need to live and grow.
- Prizes: Three winners will each receive an electronic writing board, ABP hat, and stickers.
- Selection: Winners will be chosen through a random drawn.
Grade 5 to Grade 8
- Assignment: Choose one of two paths to showcase your creativity:
- Art Focus: Create Create a 2D artwork (drawing, photo, or other) that highlights sustainable cattle practices. Ensure your work is completely original – no pre-made templates or stock images.
- Technical Focus: Design an infographic (digital or poster) on a sustainable practice in cattle production, using up to 50 words. Ensure your design is original – no pre-made templates. Cite any external assets (photos or information) used.
- Creation Notes: If you use software such as Canva or Adobe Illustrator, please inform us of which software was used in the creation of your submission; this helps us understand the tools our contestants prefer and ensures transparency in the assessment process.
- Prizes:
- 1st place: $100 cash, electronic writing board, and ABP hat
- 2nd place: $75 cash, electronic writing board, and ABP hat
- 3rd place: $50 cash, electronic writing board, and ABP hat
- Selection: The winners will be selected by a panel of judges who will assess the creations based on criteria like originality, relevance, and presentation.
Grade 9 to Grade 12
- Assignment: Select one of the following formats:
- Video: Produce a 2-5 minute video showcasing a budget-friendly beef meal, complete with a clear call to action. Consider your target audience and why and when they should add this recipe to their meal plan. File: .mp4 or .mov, max 1GB.
- Podcast: Record a 5-10 minute podcast episode that features a local producer and an innovative practice they’ve adopted, complete with a clear call to action. Consider your target audience and the why and when of your call to action. File: .mp3, max 100MB.
- Creation Notes: As we want to see your unique vision come to life, your overall submission should be original. You may incorporate other people’s work to a degree, but please cite your sources directly in your media production as well as on the submission form. If you’re involving the voice of someone else, please ensure you have their permission to submit it in the contest.
- Prizes:
- 1st place: $200 cash, electronic writing board, and ABP hoodie.
- 2nd place: $150 cash, electronic writing board, and ABP hoodie.
- 3rd place: $100 cash, electronic writing board, and ABP hoodie.
- Selection: The winners will be selected by a panel of judges who will assess the creations based on criteria like originality, emotional impact, relevance, and presentation.
Ages 19 to 23
Eligibility is limited to individuals who are at least 19 years old and not yet 24 years old on the submission deadline.
- Assignment: Record a podcast (10-20 minutes) or produce a video (5-8 minutes) for a mainstream audience that explores the positive impact of cattle on the land. Include a strong message and a call to action to inspire your audience. Use any format or technique you like, such as debate, interview, commentary, or storytelling. Save your work in .mp3 format; file size should not exceed 100MB.
- Creation Notes: As we want to see your unique vision come to life, your overall submission should be original. You may incorporate other people’s work to a degree, but please cite your sources directly in your media production as well as on the submission form.
- Prizes:
- 1st place: $500 cash, ABP messenger bag, ABP hoodie, and an expenses-paid trip to either
- the Alberta Beef Industry Conference (March 2026) or
- the Alberta Beef Industry Stampede Summit (July 2026).
- 2nd place: $400 cash, messenger bag, and ABP hoodie.
- 3rd place: $300 cash, messenger bag, and ABP hoodie.
- 1st place: $500 cash, ABP messenger bag, ABP hoodie, and an expenses-paid trip to either
- Selection: The winners will be selected by a panel of judges who will assess applications the creations based on criteria like originality, emotional impact, relevance, and presentation.
