Alberta Beef Producers’ (ABP) position on strychnine is that it should not be taken off the table for the control of Richardson’s ground squirrels without an alternative that works just as well.
As part of its advocacy on this issue, ABP has shared concerns with Canada’s Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and participated in the emergency use request process by supporting the provinces’ request with letters of support outlining on-the-ground producer concerns.
