ABP work with GOA, AFSC along with CCA and GOC to enhance Risk mitigation in the Beef Industry. Explore subsidized WLPIP, whole farm margin insurance or production programs more closely aligned with crop production programs.
March 2024 Update:
Alberta Beef Producers continues to work with AFSC and Agriculture and Irrigation to find solutions that support the beef industry, including exploring options like changes to the livestock price insurance program, augments to AgriStability, and a whole-farm margin insurance program. A pilot is currently underway to determine the most appropriate way to capture full input costs – regardless of how winter feed and pasture are grown or purchased.
